Collagen supplements are a hugely popular way to boost your skin, hair and nails, but they don’t often come cheap – which is why we’re impressed by this limited-time-only deal

Although the scientific evidence is a mixed bag about whether taking oral collagen supplements really does help to improve your skin, hair and nails, many people swear by them, and report noticeable changes (our beauty editor included). And if you’re looking for an excellent value option then you’ll want to shop on Boots today, where a three-month supply is currently reduced by almost 70%.

As part of this week’s popular Boots £10 Tuesday sale, shoppers can find the highly-rated Boots Marine Collagen 90 Tablets slashed down from £33 to £10 – one of the biggest savings of the day. This deal will only be running today though – or even ending sooner, if stocks sell out – so you haven’t got long to bag this bargain.

These once-a-day tablets contain 1,000mg of marine collagen, widely regarded to be the best type to take for skin health. You also get three months’ worth in these jars, which is usually the length of time that experts recommend taking a new supplement before you can expect to see results – although some shoppers have been seeing improvements much sooner than that…

“Started to work within two weeks,” one Boots customer wrote. “I have had rheumatoid arthritis for over 30 years which effects organs, your skin is your largest organ and to be quite honest I looked like a snake shedding her skin, since starting these, and I have to say I was very sceptical, my skin has improved tenfold. Thank you £10 Tuesdays as I wouldn’t have been able to try them without them being on such a fabulous offer.”

“Been taking these for around a month and I think they are actually making a difference!” another agreed. “Helping with the ‘old lady crinkle arms’ so it’s a yes from me.”

“I started taking these months ago and they have done more for my skin than anything else,” a third review reads. “I actually bought these as a Christmas present for a friend, because I want to share the secret!”

Not everyone saw such quick results though, with one person remarking how they “always use every day, but to be honest I am unsure if they are doing any good. Although hopeful and all the mags say to take collagen for skin”. Some also found the tablets tricky to swallow, calling them “enormous” and “far too big to swallow comfortably”.

If you too dislike swallowing capsules or tablets, you might find it more convenient to take collagen in other ways, such as liquids or powders. We like Gold Collagen Pure, from £39 for 10, for single-shot drinks, Vida Glow Natural Marine Collagen, £39 for 30, for fruity flavours that mix easily into water, and Verve Naked Beauty Collagen, from £64, for a tasty powder that’s perfect for adding into smoothies. All of these options contain a much higher quantity of collagen, too, so you may see quicker or more noticeable results.
