The supermarket is stocking an ‘energy-efficient’ gadget that dries clothes, sheets, and towels

As the temperature drops, supermarkets are starting to stock energy-saving gadgets designed to help cut down household energy costs. Aldi is one of the retailers offering gadgets designed to help families save money, and it is bringing back a popular winter item.

From October 26, the supermarket is restocking its £34.99 Winged Heated Airer, which helps households dry laundry without needing to crank up the heating. With a ‘large drying surface’, Aldi says the winged airer can ‘dry clothes, sheets and towels’.

The retailer adds that the ‘free-standing design’ has a ‘foldable and compact aluminium body’, and a cover is included for when the airer is not in use. The full product description reads: “No need to worry about drying your clothes in these cold months by cranking up the radiators. Save your pennies with an energy-efficient heater.”

Available in stores from Sunday (October 26), the £34.99 Winged Heated Airer will be found in the SpecialBuys aisle. Aldi’s SpecialBuy items are usually limited in stock, meaning that once they are gone, they are gone, and so keen shoppers will likely need to be quick if they want to pick up an item.

From the same date, shoppers can also nab a £79.99 Upright Heated Airer. Just like the winged airer, the ‘energy-efficient heater’ is suitable for clothes, sheets and towels, and the aluminium airer is foldable. It comes with a cover, mesh shelves and a peg hanger.

For shoppers looking for more money-saving items, the supermarket is also introducing heated mattress pads, which could help cut down on energy costs by using the ‘heat the human, not the home’ principle, popularised by Martin Lewis.

The heated mattress pads start at £14.99, with options available for single, double, and king mattresses. Aldi says the Single Heated Mattress Pad offers underbed heating with three temperature settings and a detachable remote controller.

It has four elastic bands for fixing the underbed to the mattress, blue indication lights for each heating level, a lower zone marked with dark grey colour, overheating protection, and an auto-switch-off. It’s also suitable for machine washing at 30°C on a gentle cycle.

The full product description reads: “Nothing better than a pre-warmed bed on those cold winter nights. Remember to turn it off or you might not want to get out!”

Both products are arriving in shops on Sunday as part of a ‘Keep Cosy’ SpecialBuys range. Other products in the range include £11.99 Winter Clogs, £5.99 Padding Slippers, Winter Felt Slippers, £2.99 Fluffy Socks, £2.49 Cabin Socks, £9.99 Yoga Pants, and £8.99 Knit Jacket.

Shoppers interested in more details can find the items listed on Aldi’s website under the SpecialBuys section, where customers can filter products by the date they arrive in store.
