‘I love my pistachio smell but this one? So tea. It’s so sweet and it’s so soft’

Cardi B has made an appearance on fragrance brand Kayali’s Instagram where she revealed her favourite scent – and it’s not the cult classic Vanilla 28. The video shows a thrilled Cardi opening up a perfume gift sent from Kayali founder Mona Kattan.

The post is captioned: “@iamcardib loves her gourmand scents so you know we had to send her Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar | 42.”

Cardi addresses the camera and says: “Oh my god guys look what Mona Kattan from Kayali sent me! Look at this! She sent me this because of my SNL perfomance and she’s just so proud of me because of my tour and everything you know?”

The Bodak Yellow singer then went on to highlight her favourite fragrance, saying: “I love my pistachio smell but this one? So tea. It’s so sweet and it’s so soft. Look how pretty it is too.

“Y’all like my family and I really really love, love, love your product. It’s so beautiful and so sexy and it’s so long-lasting. This one is Vanilla Candy and it smells just like candy.”

Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar (from £28, Sephora) is a sultry twist on candy, opening up with notes of candied pear, violet leaves, rum, ylang-ylang, marshmallow and vanilla cream. It has a rich gourmand heart of bubble gum, jellybean, white caramel and labdanum before settling into a base of rock sugar, tonka, vetiver, sandalwood, cashmere woods and patchouli.

Here at the Mirror we absolutely love this perfume and think it pairs brilliantly with bubble gum hits like Snow Fairy or Treaclemoon’s £1.99 take on the scent: Frosted Candy Angel. We’d follow it up with Coco + Eve’s Glow Figure Whipped Body Cream Lychee and Dragon Fruit Scent (£24, Cult Beauty). It’s a heavenly combination.

Our team fragrance expert, Jada Jones, said: “I have well over 150 perfumes in my personal collection, which makes it difficult to make a dent in bottles majority of the time but I’m flying through my Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar and will likely run out before summer. The longevity is great although I do like to spritz it on a few times of an evening.

“To this day my cousin asks me about this perfume and rushed out to our local shopping centre to try and recreate it herself. It’s light, juicy, sweet and fresh all at the same time. I’m a huge fan of Kayali but I think this may be their best scent yet.”

While this scent has proven to be a hit it is very sweet which can be off putting to some shoppers. It starts at £28 for a 10ml bottle but for best value per ml we would recommend the 100ml bottle.
