Parents and pupils were left in shock after a car smashed through the boundary of Castleton Primary School on Dougrie Road in Glasgow after failing to stop for police
An alleged police chase has ended with a car smashed through a primary school fence.
Police and paramedics were spotted at the boundary of Castleton Primary School on Dougrie Road in Glasgow while a recovery crew worked to remove the crashed car.
Parents and pupils were left in shock following the crash just meters from the school playground. With images showing metal fencing ripped open.
Police have said the crash took place after a vehicle failed to stop this morning. A 40-year-old man will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said:“ Around 9.20am on Monday, 15 December, 2025 a car crashed into a fence on Dougrie Road, Castlemilk, Glasgow after failing to stop for police.
“Emergency services attended. There were no reports of anyone injured.
“A 40-year-old man will be subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with road traffic offences.”
Shocked parents said it was not the first time a vehicle had smashed through the gates. Vicky Boyle, 46, from Castlemilk described how cars frequently came down the road at high speeds. “There should be traffic lights at the junction in front of the school. You can hardly even see the give-way lines on the road,” she told the Sun.
“Our kids are in that school. It’s really scary.”
Another mum, Marie Shannon, 52, from Carmunnock, described seeing the emergency vehicles at the scene. She said the crash happened just as children were going into school.
She added: “A lollipop lady stands at those gates every day. Someone could easily have been killed.”
