A massive blaze has broken out in Cannock, Staffordshire that can be seen for miles around as firefighters issue an emergency evacuation order for the surrounding area

A huge blaze has ripped through an industrial estate resulting in a massive plume of smoke being seen “for miles around” as firefighters urge evacuations for the area.

“We have a very large scale incident close to the orbital islands in Cannock,” Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said in a post uploaded to X, formerly Twitter. “We have 10 fire engines in attendance supported by specialist equipment and officers. Some roads closures are in place.”

The fire service has asked all residents to close their windows and doors due to the smoke. All local businesses in the area were asked to evacuate.

Shocking photos showed a huge plume of smoke rising from the town, just northwest of Birmingham. Dozens of firefighters have been reported rushing to the scene in a bid to bring the blaze under control.

Video taken close to the site of the blaze showed fire leaping from an industrial looking building.

According to bystanders close to the fire, the blaze ripped through part of an industrial estate in the town. X account @R_Rock_CCGreens said the blaze was located behind a Sainsbury’s. “Massive plumes of smoke can be seen for miles around,” she added.
