Burberry’s latest campaign has landed and its star-studded line up confirms that the iconic trench coat is a wardrobe must-have for handling the rainy British weather

With a glimmer of spring on the horizon, there’s no time like the present to start planning your warmer weather wardrobe, and Burberry’s latest launch is giving us some serious inspiration. The iconic British fashion house has released its summer 2025 campaign which takes inspiration from classic rom coms with a star-studded line up of British stars.

Famous faces including Kate Winslet, Naomi Campbell, Nicholas Hoult, Richard E. Grant and David Gandy all appear, with each styled in the best of Burberry’s new summer pieces. But there’s one item that stands out, and it’ll come as no surprise to fans of the brand – the signature Burberry trench coat.

The campaign celebrates the long-standing history of the trench coat, and reinvents the iconic style in time for summer. The campaign’s films combine classic romantic tropes with the ever-changing British weather, proving that the Burberry trench coat is the must-have piece of outerwear for tackling any weather.

Arguably the most recognisable style is the Long Castleford Trench Coat, £1990. Coming in three colourways, juniper, heron and beige, the Castleford Trench is made from a shower-resistant cotton gabardine that’ll protect you from unexpected rain, and lined with the iconic Burberry check.

It has plenty of luxe-looking details, including a double breasted button fastening, epaulettes and belted cuffs, with a back vent and throat latch that make it comfortable and practical. The adjustable B buckle belt gives it a subtle Burberry signature, as does the check lining and undercollar.

There are also plenty of other trench coat silhouettes and styles available, including a cosy cashmere version and ones with the Burberry check print on the lapels for a more daring look. You can shop the Long Castleford Trench Coat in sizes 2 to 16.

As one of the most iconic pieces of outerwear around, it’s no surprise that the Burberry trench coat has inspired plenty of other brands to create more budget-friendly versions. At Next you can pick up the Cream N. Premium Trench Coat for £142, which comes in sizes 6 to 22 and in both regular and petite versions.

At ASOS, you can get the Topshop Heritage Trench Coat With Check Lining In Camel for £90 which has a slightly more utility style, with patch pockets and contrasting corduroy cuffs and collar. At New Look, the Beige Check Trimmed Trench Coat, £64.99, features a subtle check pattern on the collar and side panels, giving a nod to the Burberry trench.
