A British man has died after reportedly falling from a hill in northeastern Spain – this is a breaking story

A British man has died after falling from a hill in northeastern Spain, according to reports.

The 38-year-old man is believed to have fallen “from a considerable height” from Mount Urgull, San Sebastian, at around 11am local time on Saturday, according to the Department of Security.

Emergency services, including firefighters and officers from the Basque police force, were dispatched to the scene and confirmed the discovery of the body. The man’s body was found along the Paseo Nuevo promenade.

Spanish authorities have opened an investigation to establish the circumstances of the British man’s death. His has been transferred to the Basque Institute of Legal Medicine for an autopsy.

Mount Urgull is a 403-ft historic hill in San Sebastian, located between the coastal city’s Old Town and La Concha Bay.
