Teaching assistant and mum-of-four Chantelle Riley, 47, has won a major lottery prize for the third time
A teaching assistant and mum-of-four has won a major lottery prize for the third time.
Chantelle Riley, 47, from Castle Bromwich, is one of 18 neighbours to share £1 million, each receiving £50,000 as their share of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
But Chantelle is no stranger to lottery luck, having scooped £14,221 and £1,078 in previous draws. Her good fortune seems to extend to those around her too – after convincing her partner to sign up for the lottery, he also won £50,000, along with 16 other winners in their B36 area.
Now the mum-of-four, who works at a special educational needs school, plans to buy the rented home she has lived in for six years and spoil her first grandchild, who is due next month, Birmingham Live reports.
Chantelle said: “I can’t believe it. I’m feeling kind of numb. It’s unreal. I won £14,000 in the B36 9 postcode, which is literally across the road. And then two years ago I won again at that postcode. And now this my third win and my biggest. I feel very lucky.”
The 18 residents of Auckland Drive won a share of the Millionaire Street prize when B36 0RX was announced as the winning postcode on Saturday. Each winning ticket was worth £50,000, with one resident tripling their prize to £150,000 by playing with three tickets. It is the sixth postcode to win £1 million in the last six days.
Seven postcodes won a total of £7 million in the People’s Postcode Lottery this week, with another postcode set to win £1 million tomorrow.
This is the third big jackpot to hit Castle Bromwich in the past 11 years. The neighbouring postcode to Chantelle’s, B36 9, won £2 million in February 2014 and many residents of that area won again in July 2022, sharing £3.2 million.
Despite having moved house twice since her first Postcode Lottery win, Chantelle has continued playing, buying tickets for her current postcode as well as her two previous addresses.
She said: “I’ve moved a few times, and I kept my tickets going at each address. I didn’t want to miss out if any of my postcodes came up. Last time I won, my sister said, ‘Well, I’m not going to sign up for Postcode Lottery because you won’t win again round here.’ Now I have… and she’s kicking herself.”
Chantelle’s partner, on the other hand, is thanking his lucky stars. “A few months ago, I said to him, ‘You need to start playing because just in case we do win, we’ll both get it,” she said.
“It’s amazing to win with so many people on my street. I’m so happy for next door as they’ve won as well,” Chantelle added.
