Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade rushed to the scene outside Brent Cross Shopping Centre in the West of the capital as multiple cars were consumed in the inferno

A fire has engulfed cars outside of Brent Cross Shopping Centre sending a massive pillar of black smoke shooting into the sky. The fire broke out in the car park outside the John Lewis at the popular shopping centre in North West London.

London Fire Brigade confirmed around 25 firefighters have rushed to the scene to battle the blaze.One user on X posted a video saying: “Cars on fire at Brent Cross shopping centre.” The exact cause of the fire hasn’t yet been worked out but once the blaze is under control investigators will scour through CCTV and the scene for clues.

There are currently no reports of any injuries, according to a statement issued by the brigade. The fire appears to have happened outside the entrance to John Lewis.

A LFB spokesperson said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters are responding to a fire in an open-air car park near Prince Charles Drive, Hendon.

“A number of vehicles are currently alight. There are no reports of any injuries.

“The Brigade has received 26 calls reporting the fire, and crews from West Hampstead, Finchley, Willesden and surrounding fire stations are currently at the scene.

“The cause of the fire is not yet known.”

Brent Cross Shopping Centre welcomes around 12 million guests each year with the area likely busy with people out enjoying the warm weather.

Pictures from the scene show the charred remains of multiple cars. Emergency crews from West Hampstead, Finchley, Willesden were in attendance.
