Security guard Alun Harris-Richards suffered a fatal heart attack after confronting Natasha Smith at the Arbroath Asda store

A shoplifter got into a fight with an Asda security guard who later died.

Alun Harris-Richards, 61, who worked as a security guard for the Asda superstore in Arbroath, suffered a heart attack and fell to the ground where he struck his head and died after confronting Natasha Smith.

Smith, 38, was prevented from leaving the store on suspicion she had stolen alcohol.

On Thursday, Smith was jailed for five years and four months, after pleading guilty to culpable homicide.
