Customers should stop using the nine-inch Kingfisher table fan, sold at B&Q, ‘immediately’ and request a refund for the faulty appliance
B&Q has recalled one of its table fans due to a potential fire risk, asking customers to stop using their appliances “immediately”.
As England and Wales continue to battle scorching temperatures, the home improvement giant has identified a potential safety issue with its White 9 Inch Table Fan. The appliance, made in China, was sold between March and July this year.
In its notice about the 30W fan, B&Q said: “A potential safety issue has been identified in relation to the White 9 Inch Table Fan sold between March 2026 and July 2026. In some cases, an electrical component may overheat leading to a fire or electric shock risk.
“If you think you have this product, please stop using it immediately and return to your nearest B&Q store for a refund.”
The Office for Products and Safety Standards, the UK’s national regulator for consumer products, construction products and measurement standards, has also issued a notice about the faulty product. It reads: “The product presents a risk of electric shock and fire as there is a fault within the oscillation mechanism that can damage internal wiring.
“The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.” The recall comes as the whole of Wales and half of England remain in drought.
Last week, drought was declared across seven areas in England. These are East Anglia, Hertfordshire and the whole of London, Thames Valley, Hampshire & the Isle of Wight, Devon & Cornwall, The West Midlands and Wessex.
In Wales, July is set to be the driestsince records began 190 years ago. Natural Resources Wales explained that the country only got 8 per cent of its long-term average rainfall throughout July.
