The teenager is suffering stab wounds after the attack in the busy city centre

A teenage boy has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in a busy city centre. The 16-year-old was taken to hospital after he was attacked in Nottingham city centre on Wednesday, January 14.

Nottinghamshire Police rushed to the scene at 5.51pm on Wednesday evening. The teenager was found with two stab wounds and treated at the scene on George Street near Hockley.

He was then taken to hospital for further treatment. It is not believed that his injuries are life threatening.

The boy’s family has been made aware of his injuries. Police have launched an investigation following the attack and are asking any witnesses to come forward with information.

No arrests have been made at this point. A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: “Emergency services were called to George Street at 5.51pm after a 16-year-old boy sustained two stab wounds.

“He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken by ambulance to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life altering in nature, and his family has been made aware.

“An investigation into what happened is continuing and additional witnesses are asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers quoting incident 556 of 14 January 2026.”

The stabbing comes after the force encountered a record-breaking year for seizing knives that led to a reduction in knife crime. Nottinghamshire police’s knife crime team seized a total of 224 weapons and made 150 arrests during 2025.

The weapons have been seized due to targeted patrols across the city. It has resulted in numerous blades being found that might have otherwise gone undetected. There was a one per cent reduction in knife-enabled offending in Nottinghamshire between October 2024 and September 2025 according to data from the Office for National Statistics.
