Police have asked anyone with dashcam footage to come forward after the 11-year-old boy was struck by a car outside a school in Cheshire – he later died in hospital

An 11-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car outside a school, leading police to hunt for dashcam footage of the incident.

The boy died in hospital four days after he was hit by a car outside King’s School, in Chester, at about 5:12pm on Tuesday. The boy was struck by a Nissan Qas]hqai and he was treated at the scene before being taken to Alder Hey Hospital for treatment.

Cheshire Police said the boy died this morning. His family are now being supported by specialist officers.

Sergeant Russell Sime, of Cheshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We understand that this was distressing incident, and our thoughts remain with the victim’s family at this difficult time. As part of our ongoing enquiries we are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has any information about it, to get in touch.

“The same goes for anyone who may have captured the incident on dashcam or on CCTV.” The driver of the Nissan, a 28-year-old woman, from Wrexham, was left unharmed in the incident, The Manchester Evening News reported.

No arrests have been made and police have urged anyone with any information to come forward. Anyone with any information or footage is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 or online, quoting IML-1961446.

The King’s School, an Independent secondary school, shared a post on its Facebook page on November 12: “We are aware of an accident outside the school and emergency services are on site. Wrexham Road is partially closed as a result. All pupils waiting to be picked up are safely in the school and we ask that parents avoid the area until further notice. We will issue an update as soon as possible.”
