The soothing gel was praised by a skincare influencer who recommended the product to people struggling with puffy eyes

If you’re struggling with dry, tired and puffy under eyes, a £1.50 gel could be just what you need. A hydrating gel has received heaps of praise from a skincare influencer, and beauty lovers agree it does the trick.

Beauty and skincare guru Andrew Donaldson-Wheatcroft shared the recommendation with followers on his popular TikTok account, @andrewwheatcroft. Discussing the Boots Everyday Cucumber Eye Gel, Andrew shared a long list of differences shoppers could notice after trying it.

“This eye gel is £1.50, and here’s why I think you should try it. Now, listen, it’s not going to perform miracles. It’s not going to pop out the hollows under your eyes. It’s not going to stop your husband from cheating,” he teased. “But here’s what it will do.”

Andrew continued: “It’s a great one to soothe tired eyes, help with puffiness, hydrate – and hydration is key – and it’s so great for the under eyes to plump those fine lines. It’s really great. It’s like an instant eye refresher.”

He added: “On the ingredients list on the back, you’ve got Retinyl palmitate. Now, Retinyl palmitate is going to help with those fine lines and wrinkles. It’s £1.50. Don’t be so pessimistic and put off by how cheap it is. Look at the reviews online; they speak for themselves.”

Similarly, Boots’ product description suggests: “Our refreshing eye gel is easily absorbed to cool, helps reduce the appearance of puffiness and lightly hydrates your delicate eye area. Leaving your skin feeling soothed and beautifully soft.”

In response to the video, viewers were quick to praise the product. Someone replied: “It’s so good I have used this for years. Love it!!!!” Another said: “OMG amazing I put mine in the fridge, use it every morning and put silicone patches on top – the results are amazing!!” Meanwhile, Andrew told a commenter: “I’ve done this for 8 years and try and test everything I recommend – this was highlighted to me by a lady on here who’s 70 so I trusted her and tried it!”

On Boots’ website, a customer said: “This is the best I ever tried for my under eyes area. This gel works wonders when my eyes feel heavy and tired in the morning. The cold gel texture is refreshing and depuffs my eyes. It even works for my mum who is in her 50s. Her eyes are no longer puffy. Wonderful!!!” However, others reported that their skin did not react well to the product, suggesting a patch test is advisable.
