Andrew Yearley, 53, who was facing allegations of possessing indecent images, went missing on the Isle of Lewis and now his family has been told a body has been found

A body has been found in the search for a teacher facing allegations of possessing indecent images who went missing on the Isle of Lewis.

Police Scotland confirmed the discovery of the body in the water in the Lochs area of the island just before 1pm on Thursday, June 18.

Formal identification is still pending, however, the family of missing Andrew Yearley, 53, has been notified.

The music teacher, who worked at Nicolson Institute, appeared in court in January charged with possessing indecent images. He entered no plea and was released on bail.

It’s believed a hidden camera had allegedly been found in school toilets, reported the Daily Record.

The death is being treated as unexplained, and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services attended and the body was recovered. Formal identification has yet to take place, however the family of missing man Andrew Yearley, has been informed.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
