A 15-year-old boy has tragically died after being pulled from a river in Glasgow.

Emergency services launched a major search and rescue operation on Saturday evening following reports of a boy in the River Kelvin in northern Glasgow, Scotland. At roughly 6.40pm, police and fire service crews began their search, but by 11.30pm, officers found and recovered the body of a 15-year-old boy from the water.

Police said enquiries are ongoing and that the boy’s death is not being treated as suspicious. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.40pm on Saturday, 12 July, 2025, a search and rescue operation was launched following a report of a 15-year-old male in the River Kelvin, near Maryhill Road, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and around 11.30pm the body of a male was recovered from the water. Enquiries are ongoing, however, the death is not being treated as suspicious.”
