The tragic discovery was made in a Newcastle park this afternoon, with formal identification yet to take place – it comes after 19-year-old Reagan Brown was reported missing on Monday

A body has been found during the search for missing teenager Reagan Brown, from Northumberland.

The 19-year-old was first reported missing on May 6, from the Leazes Park area of Newcastle city centre. According to police, she was “last seen wearing a bomber style Super Dry jacket with a fur hood, blue jeans, light grey Nike Air Force One trainers, and a thin necklace with her name on it.”

Northumberland Police divers and members of the local mountain rescue teams were spotted in the area on Wednesday May 8. Tragically, a body was uncovered in the park this afternoon. While formal identification is yet to take place, the teenager’s next-of-kin has been informed about the discovery, and is currently being supported by specially-trained officers.

Superintendent Kevin Waring, of Northumbria Police, said: “This is an extremely tragic conclusion to our investigation and our thoughts are with Reagan’s loved ones at this difficult time.

“I would like to thank officers and partners who helped in the search for Reagan – as well as the wider public who shared our appeal and provided information to support our enquiries. We would ask that Reagan’s family and friends are given privacy as they try to process this sad news.”

ChronicleLive reported that the heartbreak discovery comes just after Reagan Brown’s sister made a desperate plea for her sister to come home. Shaina Nevison, 24, spoke about the awful situation that her family are in, and has urged Reagan herself or anyone who may know where she is to make sure she gets home safely.

Shaina said: “This is the most out-of-character thing that Reagan has ever done, it’s like someone has clicked their fingers and she has disappeared. I never would have thought she would just vanish off the face of the Earth like this and it has been the most awful experience for me and the entire family to go through.

“Reagan is the funniest person you could ever meet and she is so caring and kind, honestly the best little sister you could ask for. She has a great family life at home with our mum Katrina, dad Francis, and little brother Tyler, as well as the family dog, so I don’t think she would ever run away.

“My message to Reagan is please come home, everyone loves you so much and we want nothing more than to make sure you are safe. If anyone is with her then please bring her back to us, we are all absolutely distraught and I would do anything to have her back.”
