A body has been found in woods during a major search for a missing woman.

Joanna Lewis, 59, went missing from Tonbridge, Kent on Wednesday (April 29) and police became increasingly concerned for her welfare.

She was last seen in the Colts Hill area at around 9am and is believed to have travelled to nearby Tudeley woods.

Police released an image of Joanna as part of the search for her but sadly, this morning a woman’s body was found in woodland near Half Moon Lane.

A statement from Kent Police said that that a woman’s body was pronounced dead at the scene in the woodland and that Ms Lewis’ family have been informed. They said that the death is not being treated as suspicious and a report was being prepared for a coroner.

The force stated: “Officers searching for a missing woman from Tonbridge have recovered a body. Kent Police attended woodland near Half Moon Lane on the morning of Friday 1 May 2026 where a woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The family of a 59-year-old woman who was last seen on Wednesday 29 April 2026, have been informed. The death is not currently being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
