With spring on the horizon, Boden’s latest clothing collection includes fresh and fun pieces shoppers ‘can wear on so many occasions’

After what feels like weeks of grey and dreary skies, weather forecasts around the UK are reporting sunnier days ahead. It finally feels like spring is around the corner and with this in mind, a wardrobe refresh is on the radar for many.

Building a hardworking collection of clothes means investing in quality pieces that will last for years to come, as well as choosing versatile picks that can be styled both for work and on days off – think smart as in rewearable pieces instead of smart as in formal. British clothing brand Boden has just dropped a brand new range for spring, answering the eternal what to wear for work question and making morning outfit decisions a whole lot quicker.

Sticking true to Boden’s signature style, expect pops of colour to brighten the day, relaxed tailoring that will keep the wearer comfortable and throw-on-and-go dresses that are chic and easy to put together. Dressing for work doesn’t have to be boring and stuffy – we’ve chosen our favourite Boden 9-5 essentials that can all be mixed and matched, plus worn off duty, too.

From unexpected prints to interesting fabrics, an individual’s personal style can be added to all of the items below. Whether that be bold jewellery or a favourite pair of shoes, Boden has made sure it all works against their fresh spring canvas.

Other fashion brands that have launched new collections for spring include Roman, with a focus on smart casual clothing. Next has collaborated with the National Trust, bringing shoppers padded jackets, flowing dresses and elegant blouses inspired by historic tapestries.

Boden clothing comes in sizes 4 to 22 and many of the items have the option of petite, regular or long. This means longer dresses, skirts and trousers can be a much more precise fit, for a wider range of body shapes.

Alexa Long Sleeve Midi Dress

Praised for having a ‘very flattering shape’ and called ‘a dress you can wear on so many occasions’, by shoppers, the Alexa Long Sleeve Midi Dress is now stocked at £139 in a stunning abstract print. It’s made from 100% cotton giving a super-soft feel and it even has side seam pockets.

The ‘distinct’ pattern is so impressive that no other styling is needed; simply slip on the dress and go. One shopper did say it ‘didn’t suit me’, so it may not be to everyone’s taste. For a midi skirt version of the same print, consider Boden’s £139 Valentina Linen Skirt.

Belgravia Linen Trousers

Every work wardrobe needs a pair of comfortable trousers that make the wearer look and feel good. Retailing for £99, the Belgravia Trousers are crafted from linen, ideal breathable fabric for a stuffy commute or temperature-changing office.

Poppy red is the colour of choice this season, injecting a playful hue into any outfit. Whether paired with a crisp white shirt or a casual tee and jacket, these trousers have been described as ‘an instant outfit to go anywhere smart’ that looks both ‘cool and stylish’. The fabric also ‘won’t wrinkle’ making them perfect for people that are sitting during work.

Liz Knitted Collared Cardigan

Boden’s £99 Liz Knitted Collared Cardigan would look wonderful paired with the above trousers. Labelled by the brand as ‘selling like hotcakes’ and called ‘chic’ by one customer, the cardigan has a regular shape that keeps the look comfortable.

It’s knitted with added wool for extra warmth so could be a contender to wear during transitional weather. It can be worn as a cardigan with the buttons open, or done up for a cool take on a knitted blouse.

Arabella Cotton Maxi Dress

Polka dots are everywhere this season but we haven’t seen them done quite like the way Boden’s Arabella Cotton Maxi Dress has done them. The button down dress is gently fitted at the waist to cinch wearers in for a flattering finish and the soft pleated skirt is so pretty.

Made from 100% cotton, we can see this dress being worn on rotation to the office, with different accessories. It can then be re-worn to a spring event, such as a wedding, styled with strappy heels.

Some shoppers found they would prefer a ‘lower neck’, however, one person was very pleased, writing: “Lovely dress, well made, nice length. Pockets are always a plus!”

Callie Linen Short Dress

When the weather starts to warm up, it can be difficult to decide what to wear to work that is both appropriate but still cool and breathable. Boden has nailed this dilemma with the Callie Linen Short Dress.

At £129, the fresh highland green colour is fashion-forward and fun, plus, it has a self-tie belt to boost confidence by creating a lovely shape. The princess seam stitches running down the dress give it a slightly more formal look, but there’s nothing to say it can’t be worn on days off with white trainers and a denim jacket.
