The ‘stylish’ furniture piece will add some much-needed function to gardens
People could save close to £30 when upgrading their gardens with a multi-functional B&M buy, compared to something that looks similar on offer at Amazon. B&M’s £20 Solar Powered Metal Side Table is available to view online.
The store’s outdoor furniture doubles as more than just a ‘convenient’ surface to set down a drink as people start to enjoy the spring and summer weather. The self-assembled piece becomes a subtle source of light on dark nights thanks to its clever feature.
Throughout the day, this table absorbs sunlight, which charges its ‘hidden’ LED solar lights beneath. When night falls, the table casts a warm white glow beneath it, offering extra light without a lamp or other fixture getting in the way, and without unsightly wiring on show.
B&M bosses wrote: “A stylish metal table that provides ambient solar lighting at night. Modern, round design that will suit any garden or outdoor space.”
An identical table is available on Amazon for £49.99. Its Rightclick Solar Powered Metal Garden Side Table offers the same warm white lighting and is an exact match to the metal design, with leg supports split into the same three groups.
Amazon claims its table has a “contemporary” rounded design with an “elegant vertical bar cage” and “sleek black powder-coated finish”. The product description adds: ” This [table] serves as both a practical side table for drinks, books, or decorative items during the day and an ambient lighting feature for evening outdoor relaxation.
“After dusk, it transforms into a subtle lighting feature with six integrated warm white LED lights. The solar-powered technology eliminates the need for wiring or electricity costs – simply position the table where it can absorb sunlight during the day and enjoy the gentle illumination throughout the evening.”
The major difference comes from the price tags each item carries. Despite looking very similar, B&M is charging £20 to collect this from stores across the UK, but Amazon is charging almost £50.
In other B&M news, shoppers are using the discount store’s latest collection to upgrade their home interiors as well. One item that serves a practical purpose is the £20 unit, which “helps keep kids’ bedrooms tidy” while leaving their favourite books and toys accessible.
Also, shopping at B&M for furniture could bring major bargains to shoppers looking to add some stylish improvements to their homes. Another item that could save people cash without sacrificing style is the “stunning” £40 light oak coffee table that looks “just like” something sold for £154 at Homebase.
Most of the current range is available to view online here, but shoppers can’t order it and must try in stores to make a purchase. There are more than 770 B&M stores in the UK as of early 2026 across many towns and cities.
Shoppers can find their nearest using the online tool here, which needs a postcode to locate nearby branches. It includes various details such as opening times and contact details.
