B&M’s new £3 shower gels ‘smell just as good as ones at Lush’

People were quick to spot the similarities between the two items

B&M shoppers have said that some of the store’s new shower gels may prevent them from “spending a fortune” on other big-name brands. The discount shop’s shelves were seen stocked with skincare products that appear to be inspired by Lush and a handful of its popular scents—but for a fraction of the price.

B&M says its Sweet Dreams shower gel is made with “clean citrus, calming herbs and snuggly vanilla-woody warmth”, with each bottle said to be specially “crafted to signal to your senses it is time to unwind.” Shoppers compared the new £2.99 product to Lush’s Sleepy range (normally from £6.50 at Lush).

B&M bargain hunters were also quick to match the Frosted Fairy bottle to Lush’s beloved Snow Fairy collection, which usually comes out every Christmas. The B&M version claims to be “part bubblegum, nostaglica and part frosted pear-peach delight… wrapped in a vanilla sweetness”.

Both bottles contain 500ml of shower gel and cost £2.99, which is less compared to Lush’s range, which starts from £7.50 online. People also noticed the same scents were available in body butter (£3.49) and body sprays (£3.49).

Plenty had good things to say online when shopper Rachael (@lifewithrachaelg) shared the new products on Tiktok. She wrote: “Some fab new body products at B&M.” In addition to her video, she also wrote that the pink shower gel “smells exactly like Snow Fairy for a fraction of the price.”

In the comments, one TikTok user said: “I can’t wait to go try! Especially Snow Fairy, as it will save me spending a fortune on my daughter!” Another wrote: “These would be perfect for a little hamper for my daughter—without spending Lush prices!”

A third put: “I was shook when I saw them! Picked up the shower gel for both the scents!” One more said: “They look cute and are reasonably priced. I’ve got two kids to buy for this Christmas, along with other family members. So if I can buy something which is more than half price with the same appeal for my young daughter (who isn’t into brands just yet) then I will.”

However, some weren’t keen on spending less for something that only looks and smells similar to Lush. A user called Jordan said: “Isn’t the point of buying from lush is to have their quality ingredients and ethical products?” Rachael replied: “I don’t think these are trying to be what the lush products are (I think lush is amazing for their stances, business model and ethical production) which you wouldn’t expect shopping in b&m anyway, but just showing a cheap, nice smelling product for anybody who is interested.”

Shoppers on the lookout for similar-smelling alternatives may want to check out Aldi for its Sweet Angel shower gel, which is back in stores and can be found either with other toiletries or taking up a slot in the middle aisle.

Alternatively, shoppers could look at other stores like Primark for its Frost Angel collection, from £3.50. This isn’t the first time a store has taken inspiration from Lush products.

Last year, Lidl stunned fans by releasing a collection of £1.99 shower gels that were inspired by some non-seasonal scents by the cosmetic brand. The £1.99 bottles had similar packaging and names but offered a huge discount of £23 by comparison, followed by another drop in January 2025.
