Shoppers are being given more options to pick up affordable homeware that looks ‘more expensive’

Shoppers can take advantage of a “peak adulthood” deal in B&M as bosses take inspiration from a viral designer item that some people use every day. The affordable version from the bargain store could save shoppers wanting to update their laundry basket by £60.

B&M’s Laundry and Co Hamper was shown on the Sale Seekers Facebook group. Showing the £20 flat-packed hamper in store, a user wrote: “Peak adulthood – excited over new laundry hamper in B&M!”

High-end brand Joseph Joseph is selling a Tota One 60L Ecru Laundry Basket for £80. The laundry basket is the same size as the B&M version and includes a very similar removable inner basket that magnetically clips back into place when removed.

In the Facebook post, the cloth-covered B&M basket, which is not available online, had a price sticker attached for £20, making it £60 cheaper than the branded luxury alternative. The space-saving design was highlighted on the packaging as a major perk, and the closable lid helps to “block odours” from clothes.

This isn’t the first bargain replica of the viral Joseph Joseph laundry basket. Shoppers were recently shown alternatives from Home Bargains and Primark for under £20 – and these were double versions.

At Home Bargains, the ‘practical’ £17 Utility Double Laundry Basket was designed to “make sorting simple and storage stylish”. With two 50L compartments, people can easily separate lights and darks (or towels and clothing) before wash day even begins, and the portable inner bags with handles mean you can lift, carry and empty each load with ease.

In an additional message to shoppers, the website adds: “The basket is lightweight and foldable, making it perfect for compact spaces or easy storage when not in use. You can choose from three colours to match your home perfectly.”

And, shoppers might still be able to get their hands on another lookalike version of the double hamper, available for £18 in Primark’s homeware department. Customers can still order one online here, though only the cream-coloured option is in stock.

Both hampers feature the same cloth style and have removable sections, ideal for people who are tired of lugging the entire washing basket to the machine or utility room. And, the major appeal of these similar versions is the huge savings.

If the double version appeals to shoppers, opting for Primark or Home Bargains can save them nearly £100 compared to the leading brand.
