A nine-year-old girl has tragically died and two other children along with a woman were rushed to hospital following a crash in Birmingham, with two men arrested

A girl, aged nine, has tragically died in a car crash with two other kids and a woman rushed to hospital.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs.

The nine-year-old girl and the others injured were all in the same car involved in the crash in Icknield Street, Hockley, Birmingham, at around 11pm yesterday, Thursday, April 2.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said that they rushed to the incident involving two cars where the nine-year-old girl was badly injured and taken to hospital where she sadly died.

The condition of the other two children and the woman who were in the same car has not been given by police after they were taken to hospital.

The force is appealing to anyone who saw the incident or may have footage of what happened are urged to get in touch. The spokesperson said: “A child has sadly died following a collision in Hockley, Birmingham. We were called to Icknield Street at around 11pm last night following a two-car collision.

“A nine-year-old girl – a passenger in one of the cars – was taken to hospital with serious injuries but sadly died a short while later. Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this devastating time.

“A woman and two other children from the same car were also taken to hospital to be assessed for injuries. Two men from the second car, a BMW, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs.
