This pregnancy pillow came out on top with our tester not just for how it supports the body when pregnant but also how it looks in the home
Currently expecting my first baby, I’ve quickly learnt that there are lots of new things to buy, either out of necessity (pregnancy vitamins, baby essentials) or to make these nine months and beyond a little more comfortable (finding the best maternity leggings has been a game changer, for example). Pregnancy pillows probably fall into the latter category for most – and I think I’ve just found the best one.
Pregnancy pillows are typically long, sausage-shaped cushions that are designed to fit between the legs and around the bump when sleeping to support spine alignment and help to alleviate aches and pains, something that’s common in the later stages of pregnancy. They can also double up as a cushion for breastfeeding or helping you to sit more upright. While not usually a strong contender for the sexiest item in your home, I’ve found one that actually looks really cool – and is comfy too.

Cushy’s pregnancy pillows, priced at £145, come in the traditional log-shaped style but are significantly more stylish than most. They’re beautifully packaged with a variety of different colourful pillow cases available to choose from, including the pink-and-red striped Raspberry Ripple design I’ve got. While normally these pillows are boring grey lumps I’d choose to keep hidden under the covers, I’m happy to keep my Cushy one out on display, and I think I still will use it as a scatter cushion once the baby’s here.
It’s also the most comfortable one I’ve tried so far. While Simba’s would be perfect for the summer months thanks to its cooling outer fabric, Cushy’s cotton-and-spandex cover is lovely and cosy at this time of year. It’s also the perfect size and thickness for me – it reaches the whole length of my body and is slightly squishier than the popular bbhugme pregnancy pillow, and definitely makes sleep a bit more comfortable for me right now.
I’ve also used it on my very slouchy sofa to support my back and help me to sit a little more upright, and found it to be very comfy for this too.
The inner cushion and case come separately as you can change the cover if you so wish, so it does take a little bit of wriggling to get the cushion inside (rather like filling a sausage into its skin). Simba’s and bbhugme’s can also currently be found in Black Friday sales, making them the cheaper options right now.
However, if you value style as much as comfort, Cushy’s is the best pregnancy pillow I’ve tried.
