Defence Secretary Wes Streeting has described the incident at Berlin Pride as “an absolutely horrific disaster”.
“My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Berlin and right across Germany who will be shaken by these scenes and these types of attacks, I’m afraid, are becoming far too common on our television screens,” he told Sky News.
“So while I don’t want to speculate on motive, what lay behind this, it is a reminder that when it comes to keeping people safe, it’s not just about what happens internationally, but also what happens domestically.
“And how we keep people safe from those who would try and create such, horrific harm, people just going out, living their lives and being who they are.”
