The company sells more than 200 brands on its platform, including Ariana Grande, Clinique and MAC, as well as its own range of products

A major online beauty retailer could be sold after advisors were reportedly hired to undertake a review of the business.

Beauty Bay was founded in 1999 by brothers Arron and David Gabbie and is based in Manchester. It sells more than 200 brands on its platform, including Ariana Grande, Clinique and MAC, as well as its own range of products.

But a new report from Sky News said Beauty Bay is exploring options to raise new funding, which could include an outright sale of the business. The news website claims Interpath, the advisory firm, is working with Beauty Bay.

Beauty Bay employs 65 people. The Mirror has contacted the company for comment.

It comes after we reported last week that beauty brand Malin + Goetz has collapsed into administration and has shut its seven UK stores.

The company has stores in London, including Seven Dials, Soho, Spitalfields, Islington, Canary Wharf, Battersea Power Station and Borough Yards. The move is set to impact more than 70 jobs.

Its online orders have also been temporarily paused. A message on the Malin + Goetz website reads: “We’re temporarily unable to accept online orders. Please explore the collection—we’ll be back soon.”

Shoppers are still able to purchase Malin + Goetz products through third-party retailers such as Liberty, John Lewis and Space NK.

A spokesperson for Malin+Goetz told TheIndustry.beauty: “Following an extensive review of the business and after exhausting all viable alternatives, we have taken the difficult but necessary decision to put our UK business into administration, resulting in the closure of all UK stores that we operate and our head office.

“We recognise the impact this will have on our colleagues and customers, and the loss of jobs is deeply regrettable, but unavoidable under the circumstances.”

It has been reported that its website will be back online after a “short maintenance period” but it isn’t clear how long this will be. Malin + Goetz was launched in New York in 2004 by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz.

It started with just six products designed to work for all skin types, but the company has since expanded into fragrance, bodycare and other beauty categories.
