A restaurant of a BBC Great British Menu star has shut after almost 10 years.
Anthony Demetre, who appeared on the 2010 series of the confirmed that his Vermuteria restaurant – which opened eight years ago – has now closed its doors.
Demetre said in a statement on Instagram on July 31, that the decision to close the restaurant is devastating.
“After eight wonderful years at Coal Drops Yard, Vermuteria has had to close its doors for one final time.
“We are devastated for our incredible staff, loyal customers, friends and supporters,” he shared.
Vermuteria, based in King’s Cross’s Coal Drops Yard, offered an all-day European menu. Demetre opened the restaurant in 2018 with designer Michael Sodeau.
The establishment was inspired by “eateries and cafés found in Italy, France and Spain” and offered a wide array of vermouths.
Demetre also owns the Michelin -starred Wild Honey St James restaurant on Pall Mall.
He also thanked patrons who supported Vermuteria.
“It’s been an incredible journey and we are thankful that so many of you were able to join us and create lasting memories.”
“The doors have closed on this chapter but the fire and hunger remain.”
