The supermarket has issued an urgent product recall notice for a toy that was sold in store from 2024 until this month, as it poses a risk of choking.
Asda has issued a product recall notice for a children’s toy as they urge customers to return the item to stores. The supermarket warned shoppers that the toy poses a choking risk to children.
As a result, Asda decided to recall the product which was sold between August 2024 and February 2026. The recall is for the Hapello Power Train, which is described as a blue plastic toy train with orange detailing.
However, a small part of the train can become loose and pose a risk of choking. The toy has the barcode 5063089308547.
Asda warned: “We have found that in some cases this product may release the orange steam dome from the top of the train, which could pose as a small part choking hazard. We have taken the decision to recall the product.”
Anyone with the toy has been asked to take it back to their nearest Asda store. The supermarket explained: “If you have purchased the Hapello Power Train, please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund.
“You do not need your receipt. The product was sold between 2024 and 2026. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact: Asda Customer Relations – 0330 053 0111.”
Last week, more children’s items were recalled due to choking risks. A Soft Bulalaet Gun from Smart Toys Limited that shoots water beads from a plastic tank, was recalled as it posed a risk of ‘asphyxiation’ in children.
Several Peppa Pig and Hey Duggee books were also recalled years after production. Ladybird titles starring the two popular children’s characters present a choking hazard to children.
Printed between 2020 and 2021 across the UK, the books carry a choking risk because small pieces can detach from the covers.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards urged: “We recommend that owners keep these products out of reach of young children and return it to the distributor for a full refund.”
Book publisher Penguin said: “If you have a copy from any of the printings listed please take the book away from small children and return it to the retailer you bought it from for a full refund (there is no need to produce a receipt).
“No other printings of the titles included in this product recall or any other titles are affected by this issue.”
