Armed police swooped on an incident near an Asda store, after reports of an “aggressive male” feared to be armed with a knife.
Pictures showed armed police on Littlemoor Lane in Oldham following reports of a concerning incident close to the supermarket. Cops were called after a member of the public reported the man for allegedly making threats outside the store.
The caller reported seeing a handle which may have been part of a knife, prompting armed police to be called to the scene shortly before 1pm, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Picture from Littlemoor Lane showed a number of police vehicles and a number of armed and unarmed police, who appeared to be concentrating on one address in the road.
No arrests have been made and no weapons have been seized.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “At around 12.45pm on Tuesday 3 March 2026, we were called to reports of an aggressive male on Huddersfield Road in Oldham.
“Officers attended the scene and established that a male made verbal threats before making off. No arrests have been made at this stage, and investigations are ongoing.”
