Police, including armed officers, were deployed to a KFC restaurant in Grimsby today after a member of the public reported seeing a man with ‘what appeared to be a gun’
Armed police raced to a car park outside a KFC in Grimsby after a man was spotted with “what appeared to be a gun”.
Three men have been arrested following the incident in Birchin Way this afternoon.
Officers were sent to the area at around 1.50pm after Humberside Police received a call from a member of the public who was concerned they had seen a man in a vehicle carrying what was thought to be a gun. Three men were located and arrested by armed officers in connection with the incident.
A “suspected BB gun” was also found and seized by police. Officers are now investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses and footage from the scene, GrimsbyLive reports.
Detective Inspector Darren Critten said: “I know reports of this nature can, understandably, be concerning for those in the local area and I want to offer my reassurance that we always treat this type of call as a priority.
“A 33-year-old man and two 28-year-old men have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm. All three remain in custody while enquiries continue.
“I would encourage anyone with any information, particularly CCTV or Dashcam footage from the area at the time, who has not already spoken to us to please call our non-emergency 101 line quoting log 222 of 19 December.”
