An American foodie has amazed Brits after ordering Nando’s for the first time and rating her meal
Brits have been left gobsmacked after an American woman visiting England tried Nando’s for the first time. Amber Kacherian, who posts videos on TikTok as @amberkacherian, has been documenting her travels and her reaction to popular British restaurants.
In a new video, Amber and a group of her American friends went to Nando’s for the first time, and foodies loved watching the tourists rate their meals. In the video, Amber told viewers: “Today, we are visiting one of the restaurants that has been the most commonly recommended by the locals in England, and that is Nando’s.”
She continued: “Alright, so we are ready to try Nando’s for the very first time, and apparently, it is a self-service restaurant where you order via QR Code. By looking at the menu, I take it that they specialise in chicken. So, let’s have some chicken.”
Showing off her order, Amber explained: I got the boneless chicken thighs (…) And my sides, I got the mac and cheese and the mashed potatoes, but they were called something different. They were called, like, ‘creamy mash’.”
Luckily, Amber was impressed by her mash. “Ooh, those are actually really good. They’re very, like, buttery. They almost taste like cheesy. I don’t think they have cheese in them, they’re just very flavourful. Like, I think it’s garlic and butter, but ooh, those are good. That’s a win on the mashed potatoes. I like them,” she praised.

The foodie also enjoyed her chicken thighs. “Alright, moment of truth. Let’s try the famous Nando’s chicken,” she said.
“Mmm, that’s good too. I like that. Mine has a little bit of a kick. I went with medium, so just a little bit of spice. But it just makes it really flavourful. Chicken’s nice and juicy. I’m a fan of the Nando’s chicken.”
Amber went on: “And last, but certainly not least, we’re gonna try the mac and cheese. It’s like a white cheddar mac. I like it. It’s different, but good. I still think, though, of everything that’s on my plate; the mashed potatoes are my favourite. These are some good mashed potatoes.”
She later tried the creamy salad dressing, though she wasn’t sure about the flavour. “And we have something here called ‘creamy salad dressing.’ I’m not really sure what this is. Is it ranch? Is it blue cheese? Is it both? Is it neither? I’m gonna try the sauce and find out what it is,” said Amber.
“It’s definitely not ranch. It tastes like dill pickles. It’s like pickle and cream sauce. What are you supposed to use this on? Do you use it, like, for your fries, or do you put it on the chicken? I mean, it’s not bad. It’s just not what I was expecting.”
Amber’s friends enjoyed their meals, and they were particularly impressed by their chips. Her friend said: “That’s pure salt.” Amber replied: “That might be the most salt that we’ve seen so far in England.”
