Jersey will be given a new bank holiday on July 15 to mark the visit of King Charles III and Camilla, marking the first time a reigning monarch has visited the island since the late Queen’s visit in 2005
A new public holiday has been announced for the island of Jersey next month to commemorate the visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
This will mark the first visit by a reigning monarch since the late Queen’s visit in 2005, and the holiday is projected to cost Jersey, taxpayers, approximately £700,000 in wages to cover civil servants taking the day off, as reported by the BBC.
Since Jersey operates as a self-governing island, distinct from the UK in many ways, residents on the British mainland will not be observing the same holiday on July 15.
