Shoppers will be able to stay cool in the hot weather this summer with the new gadgets
Aldi has several ‘cool air’ gadgets coming to stores in its latest round of SpecialBuy deals. They come at a perfect time as the UK continues to battle with another day of hot weather, with temperatures reaching 35C in parts of the country.
Earlier this week, the Met Office issued a rare extreme heat red warning for some areas of England and Wales as forecasts predicted highs of 40C. The severe heat has led to school closures, travel disruption, NHS strain, a decrease in retail footfall and multiple drownings.
An intense ‘heat dome’ combined with high humidity has this week caused daytime temperatures to soar past a record-setting 36.7C. The sweltering conditions have led to unbearable ‘tropical nights’ where temperatures remained above 20C.
In a bid to cope with the heat, as most UK homes are built to retain warmth, millions of people are using fans and air conditioning units to stay cool. Lidl is bringing out a new 3-in-1 portable air conditioning unit this week for shoppers, and Aldi is releasing a range of ‘cool air’ devices next week.
From Thursday (July 2), shoppers will be able to purchase a Globe Fan for £39.99, a Microfibre Duvet set from £9.99, a Portable Telescopic Fan for £24.99 and various other ‘cooling’ products. Shoppers can view the full list on Aldi’s website.
Two stand-out deals include Aldi’s Portable Air Cooler for £14.99 and £16.99 Jet Fan. The air cooler comes in three colours and is cube-shaped. Its compact size means it can be moved from room to room, or taken outside as it doesn’t need to be plugged in to work – it charges via a USB-C cord.
There are three speed levels to choose from and it comes with a built-in LED motion. There is an automatic colour-changing mode and a touch control panel. Aldi says: “Your very own cooling device, perfect for bedrooms, offices, or even outdoor activities.”
It also comes with a removable water tank and a top section for filling with water to create extra cool air. There are three colours to choose from: grey, blue, and light blue.
As for the £16.99 Jet Fan, it comes with a zip-up storage box to store each component. Aldi says: “Stay cool during the warmer months with fast, efficient cooling.”
The ‘two-in-one’ jet fan has two uses, as it doubles up as a dust blower and a vacuum pump. It includes different attachments for different uses. Aldi adds: “Suitable for cleaning via compressed air, for inflating or vacuuming”.
Users can adjust its intensity, and three colours are available: black, blue, green, and grey. It features a built-in rechargeable battery, light, belt clip and storage box. It is rechargeable via USB (charging cable included).
