This includes new sites in Fulham Broadway in London, Billericay in Essex, and Cheadle in Stoke-on-Trent, and comes after Aldi opened four new stores earlier this month
Aldi wants to open 30 new stores in 2025 as part of plans to invest around £650million.
This includes new sites in Fulham Broadway in London, Billericay in Essex, and Cheadle in Stoke-on-Trent. It comes after Aldi opened four new stores in Cribbs Causeway in Bristol, Hetton-le-Hole in Tyne and Wear, Ashton-in-Makerfield in Greater Manchester, and Macduff in Banffshire.
These are part of the 11 new stores previously announced by Aldi. The budget supermarket has a long-term plan to have 1,500 UK stores. In September, the supermarket chain announced a list of “wish list” locations where it would like to open new stores. Aldi says it is searching for freehold town-centre, edge-of-centre, and retail park sites suitable for property development.
Each location should accommodate a 20,000 sq foot store with around 100 parking spaces. Ideally, the location will be near a main road with good visibility and access. If you believe a site could fit Aldi’s requirements for a store, you can email the retailer at: realestateacquisitions@aldi.co.uk.
Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer, Aldi UK and Ireland, said: “At Aldi, our unwavering commitment has always been to provide Britain with the best value groceries. The demand for our unbeatable prices is now at an all-time high, which gives us the confidence to continue investing in Britain to provide greater access to our award-winning products at the lowest prices.
“We recognise that there are still areas without an Aldi store, so our expansion plans for 2025 are designed to address some of these gaps as we work towards our long-term goal of 1,500 UK stores.”
It comes as Aldi is gearing up for the busy Christmas season – and its stores will be open for longer so shoppers have more time to pick up everything they need. Its shops will open from 7am until 10pm on Saturday, December 21st and Monday, December 23rd, while on the Sunday, December 22nd, shoppers can visit between 9.30am and 4pm.
On Christmas Eve, stores will be open from 7am until 6pm. They’ll be shut as normal on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Then on on New Year’s Eve, stores will be open until 6pm, before they close again on New Year’s Day.
