Aldi has issued an urgent message to shoppers ahead of Christmas this week.

The supermarket chain has issued a reminder to shoppers that it will be changing its opening hours over the festive period, so they will need to make a plan for when they come and do their shopping. Aldi stores across the country will be closing their doors for Christmas at 6pm on Christmas Eve.

The supermarket chain will then remain closed on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day to allow their workers the chance to “enjoy Christmas with their loved ones”. After Christmas, all Aldi stores will re-open on Friday, December 27, from 8am until 8pm – this will be its opening hours again on Saturday, December 29. On Sunday, Aldi will open from 9:30am until 4pm – this is because it is Sunday and it will be operating under Sunday Trading Hours.

For those looking to stock up on everything they need to celebrate the New Year, Aldi will be opening from 8am to 8pm on Monday, December 30 and from 8am until 6pm on New Year’s Eve. All stores will then close again on New Year’s Day to again give workers a “well-deserved break as they head into 2025”.

From December 27, Aldi will be imposing a “two bottle limit” for its Crémant De Loire sparkling wine. The popular drink will be reduced from £8.99 to £4.99 – meaning it will cost you just £9.98 for two bottles. Aldi says the rule will be put in place in a bid to give everyone a chance to try the wine this festive season.

The Specially Selected sparkling wine has been praised for its notes of “mouthwatering, creamy, honey flecked, quince and golden apple fruit”. Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, said: “We want everyone to be able to raise a glass of quality wine this festive period, without breaking the bank. By lowering the price of our exquisite Crémant De Loire to just £4.99 and introducing a two-bottle limit, we’re ensuring more customers can experience this exceptional sparkling wine at an unbelievable price.”
