Pleased customers have told other shoppers they should save themselves over £100 and look out for the Aldi gadget
Aldi shoppers have claimed that a small kitchen appliance, which is over £100 cheaper than a leading brand, makes ‘better’ hot drinks. They also say it makes hot chocolate “quickly” that is “the perfect temperature” to sip on during the recent bitter winter weather. Even though it is £130 cheaper, people have said the quality is ‘just as good’.
In the Aldi UK Shoppers Facebook group, a user called Jayce asked: “I just wanted to ask if anyone has ever used [this] hot chocolate maker? I’ve been wanting to get a Velvetiser from Hotel Chocolat but can’t really afford it, and then I saw this today. I just want to check if it’s worth it to buy? Thanks in advance.”
The shopper had posted an image of Aldi’s Ambiano Hot Chocolate Maker. The store had both the white and black versions with stainless steel tops in stock. The device was recently reintroduced to stores towards the end of 2025, in the lead-up to Christmas, as a SpecialBuy, and this Aldi branch appeared to have some leftover stock in 2026.
Instead of splurging on a pricey trending gadget like Hotel Chocolat’s Velvetiser (£149.95, includes the machine and 10 Hotel Chocolat drinking chocolate sachets), plenty of people in the comment section claimed that Aldi’s version was “just as good” for a fraction of the price. Responding to Jayce’s post, one person said: “Love mine – makes beautiful hot chocolate.”
Another vouched for the device, and claimed: “Yes, they are good, I’ve had two of them!” A third wrote: “I brought this for my son for Christmas, he said it’s sick – which is good apparently! It does make a nice hot chocolate!”
Someone else put: “I’ve got this one and it’s fabulous!” A fifth person commented: “I’ve had the older version for about three years, and we use it all the time. The only downside for us is that you can only make one drink at a time. But it’s so quick and the perfect temperature to drink right away.”
And, one more said: “I bought one last year and bought a new model this year as a backup. I’ve tried many chocolate makers, and this one is definitely better than the more expensive brands.
“It’s dishwasher-safe, so there’s no need to wash it by hand. Other all-in-one models, even with non-stick coatings, still stick at the bottom, are difficult to clean, and can’t get wet. I’m very satisfied with the price.”
The Ambiano Hot Chocolate Maker may still be on offer in certain Aldi stores, depending on stock availability. Some shoppers insist it is worth the investment, leaving others hoping that it will make a return to the middle aisles at some point for those who missed out.
In other Aldi news, the supermarket’s latest round of SpecialBuy items is catching attention. After having the regular schedule disrupted over Christmas and New Year, the middle aisle is back to restocking on Thursday and Sundays as usual.
People are claiming that the new ‘winter warmer’ range, timed perfectly for the bitter-12oC weather outside, looks ‘just like’ items from Lakeland, The White Company and Dunelm for less.
