Aldi has extended its price freeze on the food product until the end of 2026, keeping it at £6.99 as people continue to face cost-of-living pressures

Aldi has announced a price freeze. The freeze is set to last for six months in a move that the supermarket hopes will help bring relief to millions of shoppers across the country struggling with the cost of living.

The budget store confirmed today (Tuesday, June 23) that it is extending its baby formula price freeze through to the end of 2026. The retailer says the freeze could help parents save as much as £5 compared with the average price charged elsewhere.

Britain’s biggest discounter will hold its Mamia First Infant Milk at £6.99 for the remainder of 2026, building on its previous pledge to maintain the price until summer 2026. The £6.99 price tag has been in place since June 2025, reports the Express.

Research by The Grocer revealed that the pre-promotional price of 157 baby formula products sold in major supermarkets climbed by an average of 9.4% in the first two months of 2026. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has also estimated that families could save more than £300 a year by switching to cheaper formula products.

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “Household budgets remain under pressure, and some infant formula brands are increasing prices. That’s why we’re extending our Mamia First Infant Milk price freeze until the end of 2026.”

“We know that every penny counts for parents, particularly during those early years, which is why we’re committed to keeping this essential product accessible and affordable.” UK regulations ensure that all infant formula products meet babies’ nutritional needs, regardless of brand or price.

Aldi describes its Mamia Stage 1 First Infant Milk as “suitable from birth” and “suitable for combination and bottle-fed babies”. It should be noted, however, that it must not be refrigerated.

This announcement represents the latest move from Aldi to back parents across the country. Earlier this year, the supermarket relaunched its Mamia New Parent Fund, giving away £100 Aldi vouchers every week for a year to assist parents with the expense of everyday essentials following the arrival of a new baby.

Parents can apply by emailing mamiaparentfund@aldi. co.uk with a receipt demonstrating their most recent Mamia nappy purchase. For full terms and conditions, visit: www.aldipresscentre.co.uk/terms-and-conditions-for-aldis-mamia-new-parent-fund-the-prize-draw/.

Aldi was also crowned Supermarket of the Year at the 2026 Mother and Baby Awards.
