The discount stores have products that look almost identical to the high-end brand’s version
Bargain hunters can now get a festive household decoration for £25 that arguably could pass as something that costs almost £50. However, the supermarket versions are practically half the price, and most may find it hard to tell the difference at first glance.
The Aldi Home event lands in the middle aisle today (November 6, 2025) but is likely to get overshadowed by some of the early Black Friday deals that have also been put on shelves today, including TVs, air fryers, exercise machines and branded toys.
Returning from previous years, the £24.99 XXL Inclusion Candle is available in two scents – Winter Spice and Scandi Forest. On its website, Aldi bosses claim the 4.5kg candle will “create a festive dining table to impress”, acting as a centrepiece that “will bring a warm ambience to any room”.
As well as the jumbo candles, Aldi shoppers can buy similar, smaller candles for £9.99 with the 1.1kg Rectangle Inclusion Candles, which have the same two scent options. There is also the Small Inclusion Candle (660g) costs £5.99 and is available in either Pomegranate or Blackberry & Bay.
For people who don’t manage to get their hands on the Aldi version, Lidl are bringing back its own version within a matter of days. Shoppers can get the store’s Luxury Botanical Fragranced Candle from Sunday, November 9.
Available in two Christmas scents – Festive Spice and Fir Tree – Lidl fans can get the 4.5kg scented candle for £24.99 – the same price as Aldi’s. Shoppers have been quick to compare these large candles to similar products offered by The White Company – but noted the price difference.
The branded version costs shoppers £45, compared to the supermarket versions that cost £20 less. In both shops, the middle aisle stock is only available whilst it lasts, so shoppers need to be quick if they want to get their hands on these festive centrepieces.
In other supermarket news, Waitrose has rolled out a major change to its loyalty scheme nationwide – and it means more shoppers can now get freebies. MyWaitrose has expanded its Little Treats reward scheme to all stores following a successful trial, offering shoppers up to three rewards every month, including free products or money-off vouchers.
Meanwhile, some Tesco shoppers might be realising that there’s a rule in place for online shoppers for the first time. To prevent stockpiling and ensure that there is enough on the shelves for everyone, the supermarket has a policy in place that stops stock from being cleared out in a single order.
On its website, Tesco explains: “To ensure availability of all our products, customers may be limited to a maximum number of items.” When trying to shop online, our reporter found that many items are currently capped at 16 per shop.
