Designer Anya Hindmarch has brought her cult Universal Bag to Aldi and shoppers are racing to get their hands on the limited edition tote

British accessories designer Anya Hindmarch has done it again, this time collaborating with budget supermarket Aldi to launch a new edition of her cult-favourite tote bag, and it’s the cheapest yet.

The Universal Bag became a sought-after piece after Anya teamed up with shops such as Asda, Waitrose, and Ocado to create stylish bags for life. Normally priced at £13.99, Aldi’s version is £4 cheaper at £9.99.

Available in 1,000 Aldi stores today, this Specialbuy is already flying off the shelves, and once it’s gone, you won’t be able to pick another one up.

The limited-edition tote bag is made from 100% recycled materials, and fully certified under the Global Recycling Scheme (GRS).

It also comes with a 10-year durability guarantee, making it a major step in Hindmarch’s mission to make reusable bags desirable, durable and sustainable.

For shoppers, the huge appeal of this bag is that it offers the style credibility of a luxury piece thanks to Anya Hindmarch, but at a massively affordable price point.Plus, it has eco credentials, so it’s good for the planet and good for your bank balance.

Designed in the oversized shopper style of previous Universal Bags, it’s got an Aldi twist with the navy, orange, red and white colour palette.

Commenting on the new launch, Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK said: “We are so excited to be collaborating with Anya Hindmarch on the launch of the new Universal Bag.

“Not only made from 100% recycled materials, but it is also incredibly durable, designed to handle the big weekly shop and perfectly sized for middle aisle Specialbuys!”

Lastly, the bag features a handy free post-returns pocket built into it. This means that after the bag reaches the end of its life, shoppers can fold it into the built-in pocket. This effectively turns the bag into a pre-addressed envelope to be posted to be 100% recycled locally.

While only available until stocks last, we reckon this will be a sell-out.
