Lidl has revealed its stores will be closed once again on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, while most of its stores will also remain closed on Boxing Day
Lidl has unveiled its Christmas and New Year opening hours for 2024.
The budget supermarket has revealed its stores will be closed once again on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Most of its stores will also remain closed on Boxing Day but customers are advised to check their local store’s opening hours on the online store finder or through the Lidl Plus app.
Lidl has also revealed its busiest times in store are around lunchtime, with the highest levels of footfall being recorded between 12pm and 2pm. The quietest hours are between 8am and 10am, or 6pm onwards. Lidl has more than 960 stores.
Other retailers have also adjusted their opening hours for the festive season. Aldi has announced its stores will once again be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day this year, with its shops set to reopen on December 27. John Lewis and Waitrose, which are part of the John Lewis Group, also confirmed they will be closing their stores over Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
The only two stores which will be open on Boxing Day will be the John Lewis stores in Trafford and Stratford shopping centres. The majority of Waitrose and John Lewis stores will also be closed to shoppers on New Year’s Day.
Again, shoppers are advised to check opening times online to avoid a wasted journey. Home Bargains is also set to close all of its branches on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. The retailer also said its stores will close earlier on Christmas Eve, shutting at 5pm instead of the usual 8pm or 9pm.
Dunelm has confirmed it will be extending its opening hours in the run-up to Christmas. Its opening hours are typically 9am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 7pm on Saturdays. But on December 23, shops will stay open until 9pm, then on Christmas Eve, shops will close slightly earlier at 4pm, before being shut altogether on Christmas Day. On Boxing Day, Dunelm stores will be open from 10am until 5pm, as this is a bank holiday. Its extended hours return on December 27, when shops will shut at 9pm.
In more Lidl news, the supermarket has launched new “gravy yachts” that can carry up to five litres of the nations favourite Christmas dinner condiment – but shoppers will have to hurry to have a chance at securing one of theirs. The supermarket is releasing just 100 of the two-litre “yachts” and a mere handful of the near-nine-pint “superyachts”.
