As Storm Goretti hits the UK, seeing temperatures to plummet, Oodie has launched a clearance sale full of winter warmers
As Storm Goretti threatens to blanket the UK in snow and plunging temperatures, households are once again looking for ways to stay warm without watching their energy bills soar. Just in time for the chilly weather, popular Australian brand Oodie has slashed prices on a range of winter warmers, including their iconic hoodie blankets.
The Met Office has announced that there will be ‘severe gale force winds’ for the far southwest, and ‘heavy snow’ for Wales and central England tonight, meaning people will want to wrap up. The key to keeping warm without using the central heating or plug-in heaters is layering up, with Oodie offering a range of warming pyjamas, dressing gowns, blankets and more.
In the retailer’s clearance sale, shoppers can snap up a selection of cosy staples from £15, making it the perfect time to winter-proof wardrobes. One of the best deals we found was on Oodie’s Charcoal Warming Long Sleeve PJ Top, which is now reduced from £45 to £19. When temperatures drop overnight, good sleepwear can make all the difference, and this particular top is made from a brushed bamboo blend that’s reportedly twice as warm as regular cotton jersey.
Offering warmth without the bulk of fleece or velvet pyjamas, the top comes in sizes S to 3XL. Speaking on the top, one customer said: “Bought these for my partner for Christmas as he loves bamboo material clothing and has Raynaud’s, so these Oodie warming PJs were perfect to help keep him warm at night. They are so soft and cosy, I’ll be buying more for both of us.”
The downside is that the trousers are sold separately instead of in a convenient set. As an alternative, Pretty You has cut its Bamboo Long Pyjama Set in Midnight Stripe down to £36 from £60. Explaining why bamboo is such a great fabric choice for nightwear, the brand explained that the cross-section fibres ‘trap warm air’, making the material temperature-controlling.
Few winter items are as instantly recognisable as the Oodie Original, and this plain grey design is currently reduced from £65 to £39. Designed as a wearable blanket, it combines a ToastyTek flannel fleece exterior with a sherpa fleece lining for maximum warmth. It also boasts an oversized hood and extra-large pocket for added cosiness.
Available in Small/Medium or the original one-size fits all, it’s perfect for lounging at home, working from the sofa, or keeping warm without turning on the heater. One reviewer bought it specifically for their dad to avoid using heating, commenting: “Bought for my Dad who didn’t want to turn on his heater. Keeps him snug and warm.”
Another added: “I have not taken this off during winter. Like a massive warm hug,” though a third found theirs to be faulty, writing: “Unhappy as stitching around the pocket area came undone only after three days of my husband wearing it.”
While £39 is a significant markdown on the Oodie’s usual price, some shoppers may still be reluctant to spend almost £40 on a wearable blanket. As such, they may look for more affordable alternatives, such as the Teddy Oversized Blanket Hoodie at Dunelm. Coming in at £11.20 down from £16, it’s unlikely to be of the same quality as Oodie, but it is made from a ‘super soft and warm’ polyester fleece that will still keep wearers warm.
Oodie doesn’t just have products for staying warm indoors, either. The Burgundy Long Puffer Jacket, now £79 down from £119, is designed with winter walks and school runs in mind. With a 200gsm fill, 5K water resistance, and a fully reversible design lined with ToastyTek fleece, it’s warm, practical and stylish.
It is yet to generate any reviews from customers, which shoppers often like to read to make a more informed decision when purchasing. Looking at it ourselves, one potential downside is it doesn’t come with a peitite or tall options for shoppers.
For those hunkering down, though, the Moss Green Sherpa Blanket, now £49, offers the same cosy feel as an Oodie Original but in blanket form. Perfect for sofas and beds alike, it’s been thoughtfully designed to blend in with living spaces, making decor as practical as it is on trend. Elsewhere, at Amazon, this Silentnight Snugsie Giant Blanket has been reduced from £21.74 to £17.99.
Bigger than a king-size bed, it’s large enough to fit the whole family or to shroud in ultimate snuggly comfort. For anyone who feels the cold but dislikes heavy layers or long sleeves, the Breakfast Warming Sleep Tee is expected to be a game-changer.
Reduced from £65 to £29, the oversized sleep tee is made from ultra-soft brushed bamboo, just like the long sleeve top mentioned earlier, offering warmth without weight. Customers love how ‘lightweight yet warm’ it is, with one calling it ‘utter perfection’.
One said: “This sleep tee is comfortable and quite warming for colder weather.” “This is the most delicious feeling fabric,” said another.
“It is so cosy and warm. I really feel the cold, but I have a serious issue with long sleeves or too much bulk. This sleep tee is utter perfection. Lightweight, yet warm and the sleeves are the perfect length for me to move around and get things done.
It is seriously like wearing a warm hug. Will certainly be buying a couple more of these.” Whether it’s bamboo sleepwear, wearable blankets or weather-ready jackets, Oodie’s clearance offers a great opportunity to stay snug for less, without relying on constant heating.
