Holly, 22, says she now has to buy children’s clothes to get them to fit
A woman lost 10st on Mounjaro in just six months eating the same meal every deay. Holly Barron, 22, has had type two diabetes since she was 20 and weighed 21st 8lbs at her heaviest – after a PCOS diagnosis saw her gain eight stone in a year.
She struggled to lose weight “no matter what” she did and said after being prescribed Metformin she was left vomiting for up to “12 hours straight” and in hospital. Her clinic prescribed you Mounjaro instead and she started taking a 2.5mg dose in June 2025.
The jab and a strict diet of chicken salads and high protein snacks meant Holly lost 10st in six months – shrinking to a healthy 11st 8lb and now wears a child’s age 13 years size trousers. Holly, a part-time content creator, from Urmston, Manchester, said: “I’ve always been overweight and no matter what I did I couldn’t obviously lose weight.
“It led to me being bullied through school and in everyday life people out there were not seeing me for me, just as someone overweight. I left school and I had been diagnosed with diabetes and PCOS and life changed overnight.
“All of a sudden I gained seven or eight stone in a year and I didn’t understand why. My diabetes clinic – they suggested Mounjaro. With Mounjaro it gave me back being able to understand when I was full and when I wasn’t full.
“I’ve been on it six months and completely went clean with my diet and had chicken salad every day. It has changed my life”.
Holly spent four days in hospital after suffering with an intolerance to her old diabetes medication Metformin which nearly left her in a coma. Doctors offered Mounjaro as an option in June 2025 and she took her first 2.5mg injection on June 18 2025.
She said: “I had tests and discovered within my signals in my brain, they were not telling my belly it was full which is what Mounjaro gave me back after. I always felt hungry and never understood it. I would eat until I threw up.
“I was a size two or three XL and now I’m an XS and my pants are age 13 in the kids section. I never expected that.”
Holly admits before her weight loss she would reach for a bacon butty or McDonald’s breakfast on a morning, and a Chinese takeaway or a meal deal for dinner. Now, she focuses on a high protein diet to keep her “strength” after loosing muscle mass.
She said: “For my breakfast now I’ll have turkey ham and Fridge Raiders chicken grills. I’ll have my breakfast around lunchtime. Tea will be chicken salads weighed out. I have full fat mayo but only 15 grams of it because I track the carbs and sugars each gram holds.”
Having shared her journey on social media, she says a lot of people have reached out to her for help and advice. She has also published a digital booklet on her TikTok bio so people can read about her journey in more detail.
She said: “They’ve said I’ve given them confidence without being scared. I feel like before I was existing rather than living. I wear a lot more colour now as black was the most flattering colour before. My friends and family have been so happy for me along the way. On days where I was feeling ‘this is a bit harder’ they’ve all cheered me on”.
Holly wants to lose a further two stone and has recently had a meeting with her doctor and is awaiting results from blood glucose tests. If she is in a normal range, she will progress on to the next dosage of 10mg. Obviously a lot of people are so scared of starting it,” she said.
“They don’t know where to turn and I feel like that’s something I was nervous of. If you’re scared of your health it’s best thing possible to do if you think it’s for you. There’s nothing to be scared of.”
